SAML 2.0 Aligning Web 2.0 with Identity 2.0
If WEB 2.0 is characterized by wiki's, blogs, rss, atoms, r/w internet, and more where the "Network is Leveraged as the Platform" and Identity 2.0 is chracterized by URI/XRI, open, lightweight, user reputation and more - then SAML 2.0. (the builidng block for federation) ALIGNS Web 2.0 applications with Identity 2.0.We've seen how XRI/YADIS can be linked to SAML
We've seen how SAML can be supported in SIP environment
We've seen SAML's support for multiple AuthN context
We've seen how its inclusive of emerging cryptography algorithms (ECC and sensor networks)
We've seen how XACML is the outgrowth of SAML's basic Authorization
Wiki's and Blogs use OpenID's that link to SAML, Converged Communication Services in SIP use SAML artifacts, multiple Enterprise Services (with multiple AuthN mechanisms) are reused as a platform for applications based on SAML's support for multiple AuthN mechanisms, Ruby on Rails based web 2.0 apps that use Yadis (for example) can leverage identifiers of things in a sensor network securely with the inclusive nature of SAML for ECC, the outgrowth of SAML basic AuthZ - to XACML aligns rights management and entitlements (User RM, Digital RM and Enterprise RM) for a read/write internet.
Therefore SAML 2.x based Identity Systems ensure both characteristics of Web 2.0 and Identity 2.0 are built with the appropriate building block
